What Hearth is

Hearth is a secular community for younger adults to explore wisdom, support each other, and have fun. Like the best parts of religion, without anyone telling you what to believe.

How Hearth Works

Built around your Circle

Your Hearth Circle is a small group of about 10 members who gather twice monthly in living rooms to check in with one another, reflect, hang out, and hold longer discussions on topics such as love, friendship, gratitude, or grief. Outside of Circle, Hearth also integrates volunteer opportunities and monthly inter-Circle socials! 🎉

01 — Wisdom

Learn and share wisdom

Monthly living-room conversations about life's big questions—with perspectives curated from spiritual and non-spiritual sources alike, from the Torah to TED Talks. No dogma; just discussion, reflection, and a touch of light but meaningful ritual.

02 — Support

Assist and challenge one another

Consistent small-group check-ins twice per month with your Circle. Authentic, deep, consistent mutual support through the ups and downs of life.

03 — Service

Help your community

Hearth Circles offer regular opportunities to serve others and support NYC neighbors, putting care and wisdom into practice.

Why Hearth?

It's a mad world out there.

When times get tough, it can be easy without religion to sink into disillusionment and to retreat into ourselves. I know because I've been there.

I'm nonreligious, and as a teenager, I experienced a deep existential crisis that sent me on a seven-year journey to find answers I needed.

Nearly one-third of Americans reject religious doctrine, yet when they look elsewhere, there's often a problem: Few, if any, satisfying nonreligious communities exist to support younger adults interested in nurturing their spirit and engaging in wisdom discussions.

Hearth fills this gap. We are building a social, secular community where members can wrestle with life's big questions, disagree thoughtfully, support one another, and have a genuinely good time along the way.

Find your people, and pull up a chair. Or hop on the couch. Your choice!
